Driving Safely
Whether you’re preparing for a trip or running errands, you need to feel safe. This article explains safety measures to take when out and about.
● Maintain your vehicle's performance. Ensure the tank has sufficient fuel to carry you where you're going and back.
● If you have a cell phone, call the police if you feel you're being followed or have seen an accident. Otherwise, refrain from using your phone while driving.
● If you believe you are being followed, proceed to the next gas station, open shop, or other well-lit, busy place to get assistance. Do not return home.
● Avoid parking in remote locations. Ask a store employee or security officer to watch or guide you to your car if you feel uneasy.
● Even if you're going to be right back, roll up the windows and lock the car doors. Before entering, inspect the inside and outside of your vehicle.
● Even if you are running inside for a moment, turn off the ignition and grab your car keys.
● Avoid picking up strangers.
