Home Safety
Want to feel safe in your own home? Here are some simple steps to make you feel more secure:
● Always lock your doors, whether you are home or not. Do not hide your house key outdoors.
● Keep your keys close by once you return home. Do not waste time unlocking your doors.
● Check to see who is at your door before opening it. Demand identification from strangers.
● Do not let strangers inside your home. Even if they ask to come inside for an emergency.
● Do not give information about your alarm system, schedule, or vacation times to anyone unless its a family member or close friend.
● Shred all credit card and bank statements before throwing them away.
● Do not give out your personal information or card information over the phone unless you know it is credible.
● Use indoor lights when you are home and outdoor lights after dark.
● Do not keep boxes outside indicating costly purchases in your home (TVs, Computers, Jewelry, etc.)
● To keep your home safe, do not indicate the dates you are away from home on vacation, business trips, weekend getaways, etc. Unless it's to a family member or close friend.
